Oakland County Woman Wins $1 Million Playing Michigan Lottery’s Hamilton Instant Game

Winning TicketAn Oakland County woman who believed she would win a big lottery prize one day has won a $1 million prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Hamilton instant game.

The lucky 40-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket at the Meijer gas station, located at 1703 Haggerty Highway in Commerce Township.

“My husband and I play instant tickets all the time,” said the player. “When we scratched off our Hamilton ticket and saw we won $1 million, we were ecstatic! We always had a feeling the day would come where we won big, and it’s a blessing that it really happened!”

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With her winnings, she plans to buy a new vehicle and then save the remainder.

Players have won more than $13 million playing Hamilton which launched in May. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $38 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, 19 $10,000 prizes, and 92 $2,000 prizes.

In 2023, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
