An Oakland County woman and her husband are looking forward to having a nice financial cushion after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s 20X Wild Time instant game.

The lucky 68-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at Sweetwater, located at 7760 Cooley Lake Road in Waterford.

“Every now and then my husband and I will play Club Keno and buy some instant tickets,” said the player. “Right after purchasing the ticket, my husband scratched the barcode and scanned it on the Michigan Lottery app. When we saw the amount that came up on the screen, we didn’t believe it, so we scratched the rest of the ticket off and there it was, a $300,000 prize! We were in total shock. My husband almost fell out of his chair!”

The lucky player and her husband visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim their big prize. With their winnings, they plan to fix up their house and then save the remainder.

“Winning $300,000 is going to provide a nice financial cushion for us and allow us to live comfortably,” said the player.

Players have won more than $5 million playing 20X Wild Time, which launched in April. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $40 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes, eight $25,000 prizes, and 34 $2,500 prizes.

In 2023, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
